The Studio Ghibli (スタジオジブリ, Sutajio Jiburi) is a Japanese animation studio. Your anime movies have been provocative, imaginative, emotional and widely acclaimed throughout the world.
Its name derives from the nickname the Italians used for their exploration of the Sahara aircraft in World War II, which derives from the Italian word used to the hot wind that blows in the Sahara desert. Although the name is Italian, the pronunciation when referring to the firm is 'ji-bree' or 'chi-bu-ri', to adapt to the phonetics of the Japanese language. Founded in 1985, is led by highly-winning director Hayao Miyazaki (Hayao Miyazaki 宫 崎 骏) with his colleague and mentor Isao Takahata. Its origins date back to 1983 with the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (風 の 谷 の ナウ シカ Kaze no tani no Naushika, 1984), which began as a manga magazine published by Tokuma Shoten (徳 间 书店). Tokuma company was the "mother" of Studio Ghibli and Disney gave the video rights and distribution of several films; including Princess Mononoke (もの のけ 姫 Mononoke Hime, 1997) and Spirited Away (千 と 千尋 の 神隠し Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, 2001). The composer Joe Hisaishi created the soundtrack for many of the films of Studio Ghibli.
The most famous and lauded film studio was not directed by Miyazaki is Grave of the Fireflies (火 垂 の 墓 Hotaru no Haka, 1988), directed by Isao Takahata, a sad film focusing on the lives of 2 orphans postwar WWII in Japan.
